Authentic Indian Masala Chai Tea

Masala chai is a cinnamon-spiced chai tea made with milk. It's an authentic Indian drink and it's deliciously warming.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 black tea bags
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 7 green cardamom pods
  • 1.5 tsp ginger finely minced
  • sweetener of choice as much as needed

Instructions

  • Measure out milk and microwave for 60 seconds.
  • Add all the spices and tea to a pot and add the warmed milk.
  • Heat over medium heat for 5 minutes or until the milk starts to look tan/brown. The longer you leave it the stronger the flavor will be. Be sure to stir to prevent it from burning to the bottom of the pan.
  • Strain the spices and tea bag out and stir in any sweetener you may use. Maple syrup is my preference.
  • Enjoy while hot!
