If you know my husband and me, you know that we go through cycles of Starbucks. I have been really resisting the urge to start again, but finding ways to recreate new drinks at home has really helped me stop spending way too much money on coffee, and use up some obscure things in my cupboard that I don’t normally use (i.e. spices for Indian cooking or garlic/onion powders). I also really love this recipe for the fact that it is made with tea instead of coffee or espresso powder. I can brew the tea strong with tea bags or loose leaf tea, but don’t have to worry about getting TOO much caffeine from the espresso.
Have you tried a tea latte before? If not, you’re seriously missing out! Not nearly as bitter, the caffeine doesn’t knock you down on your butt, and you can get some really unique flavors from the different flavors of tea. That said, this one is one of my personal favorites because it uses so much cinnamon without being able to tell. We’re reading the book, How to Not Die, and one thing he talks about is adding spices to your diet more frequently to add antioxidants. Here’s a way to add it into a delicious drink! BOOM.
What you’ll love about this copycat Starbucks cinnamon dolce latte with black tea?
- It tastes so similar to the Starbucks cinnamon dolce latte but made at home with like half the sugar and caffeine.
- Save yourself money! If you’re like me, the $5 per day Starbucks run added up really fast. You can make some really fancy coffee or tea drinks at home that’ll save that small fortune for bigger and better things.
- It’s incredibly easy. You just steep the tea, heat some milk with the other ingredients and stir it up. You can get fancy and froth the milk but it’s totally unnecessary.
How to make this copycat Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce Latte with black tea?
- Heat water in the microwave or in a tea kettle. Once near boiling, pour into a small container with the tea leaves (or tea bag) and allow it to steep for about 3-4 minutes.
- While the tea is steeping, heat the milk for about 60 seconds in the microwave. Stir in the sugar, salt, cinnamon, and vanilla. You can froth this or whip it to give it a bit more body (I do this with my immersion blender).
- Next strain the tea into the milk.
- For more appeal, dust the top with more cinnamon. Enjoy hot!
